11am Session 20 | Being Constant in Prayer
• Series: Ephesians
Ephesians Session 20 August 22nd | Being Constant in Prayer Salvation-Sanctification-Glorification (we have a part to play in our sanctification) John 15:1-5 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. · Prayer gets more attention than the other weapons Paul describes. · Prayer-petition the deity. · The tense of the verb pray is present. · We are called to keep praying, on all occasions, with all kinds of prayer. · This type of prayer gets your eyes focused off your individual wants and needs and back on God and His family. Ephesians 6:18-19 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. Ephesians 6:23-24 Peace to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen. Philippians 4:6-9 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” 2 Timothy 1:3-7 I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, 4 greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, 5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. 6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Psalm 91:1-16 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.” 3Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. 4He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. 5You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. 7A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. 8Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked. 9Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, 10No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways, 12In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. 13You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. 14“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. 15He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. 16With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.”
